Tachileik, Myanmar – 2012
A frustrating mistake had me ending up taking a trip to Myanmar to refresh my legal status in Thailand. The experience turned out to be very positive. Who knows…maybe I even subconsciously made the horrifying mistake on purpose!
- I had bought a bunch of narcotics in Tachileik but after reading this sign decided I didn’t want to be THAT guy…you know…person who smuggles in drugs to Thailand.
- Adios Myanmar…my hour alone with you will not be forgotten.
- Due to the tropical climate in Southeast Asia flags are able to absorb enough water to grow human hands. The caption “SEE YOU AGAIN” is not part of the flag as an organism.
- Entry and exit stamps from the same day. The hour I spent in Myanmar would’ve been worth the eight hour trip even if I didn’t need a visa renewal.
- The Myanmar immigration officers were way more engaging than the Thai officers.
- I thought about staying the night here and renting a SHB11 but decided I’d rather not get bedbugs and AIDS.
- Many Asians think white skin is beautiful. The little girl in front and the mother have whitening cream smeared on their cheeks. It’s hard to see, but there are actually four people on this motorcycle; the mother is holding another miniature human in her lap.
- A minimalistically-painted truck hauling jugs of water that were not yet determined to be fake or real.
- My one regret in life is that I didn’t make love to the girl in the white shirt. Her skin tone was marvelous.
- This guy was just trying to help me out, make sure my love life was all that it could be.
- From the top of the stairs, a view of the street vendors selling fake goods that may or may not be randomly confiscated at upon re-entering Thailand.
- Temporary entry permit to the Union of Myanmar.
- Though this sign didn’t say “Welcome” or have any real greeting…I guess I felt welcome.
- Too cool for anywhere. I followed this dreaded, stonewashed-wearing, leather-toting alpha male in hopes of learning how to charm women enough to contract HIV from them.
- Excitement building as we approached the Thai/Myanmar border!!
