Koh Tao, Thailand
Koh Tao, Thailand – 2012
A relaxing trip turns into psychological burden for a very troubled, sensitive young man…check out my experience on the beautiful Thai island of Koh Tao!

The day Andrew and I went hiking around was my best day on the island. We got lost in this lush, palm-forested area and forgot about everybody else.

Napping cockroach that greeted us upon our arrival to the Sunset Buri Resort. He was on the floor by the bed; I just moved him to a more comfortable position. The staff makes the beds in the mornings but doesn’t bother picking up the dead cockroaches or cockroach pieces scattered all over the place.

Sunset Buri Resort looks awesome from the outside, just make sure you don’t ever go in your room unless you want to take a shower in water that smells like shit while simultaneously making friends with a bunch of cockroaches. In reality though, it was so nice I could’ve just slept outside on one of the patio chairs.

Some couple having a romantic time or whatever. A random beach dog wandered up and decided to join them, wanting to be a part of the family he never had.

-
Upbeat locals really spiced up the scene.

Staring at my own feet, wondering what I’m doing with my life. Common occurrence, nothing unusual.

Andrew performing hijinx. Not sure why this picture is up here…it makes him look cooler than me.

-
Great opportunity to quickly learn to hate 1-4 people (yourself included).

Our very first bungalow!! Five hundred baht per night, two beds, one fan and no bugs. Pretty good deal.

Hanging out, staring at the sea. I tried to imagine each wave washing away how shitty this trip has been going so far. Didn’t really work.

This guy had a great view. And we had a great view of him enjoying it!!

Catalina and Andrew pretending to smile. We ate at this restaurant three or four times while on the island. Really it is irrelevant where you eat because most every place had the same exact menu for about the same prices. Each place was surprisingly good too.

A morning beach stroll by three amigos. Off to have an “American breakfast” of toast, eggs, hash browns, bacon and coffee or tea.

After snoozing on the boat ride to Koh Tao I was ecstatic to see the beautiful color of the water and feel the cool breeze from the sea.

Before boarding the boat from Chumphon to Koh Tao. Walking this long dock was exhilarating, the gateway to our first island adventure.
