Jobs…so what is a job really? You know that time you were born and then eventually experienced consciousness as a little kid, the first moment at the kitchen table thinking, “hey, I am Brian; I am this person,” while touching your hand to your nose. Burning yourself on the stove, crawling around on the floor, feeling the carpet beneath you. Feeling the linoleum beneath you when you get in the kitchen. Sitting on the stairs.
Childhood, when there was opportunity in adulthood. Now adulthood and in years past, I have found myself thinking about childhood at times, wondering what happened to everything. Gradually I’m shifting my beliefs back, constantly working on optimism and attracting more positive forces. A different kind of resiliency. Not concentrating on the vortex in my chest because there’s more to look forward to. My goal is to believe this. Negative beliefs hold you back, positive beliefs propel forward.
So I’m trying to stay busy and not over-analyze anything. I moved into a new place to have a larger workspace as well as get some distance from less positively-oriented family members. As a whole, to start fresh, in general…a new life. In some ways it’s nice to be living alone again. I also decided I’m going to go back to working at the coffee shop part-time in order to work on building new relationships. Starbucks will hopefully give me some more positive, genuine interaction that hasn’t come as readily at my other job. A chance to meet some new friends, hear more hyper-conservatives tell gun stories, have a sense of community, stuff like that.
Oh yeah, I have some work on display at The University of Texas at Arlington; a series of environmental portraits from Asia. They are on display in the Central Library until May, if you’re interested in visiting. Also I am having an exhibit at Roots Coffeehouse in North Richland Hills during March and April. The photos there are going to be a mixture of more artistic nature images as well as some portraits and other odds and ends. I’ll post some pictures once it’s all set up.
And…if you missed them, I posted a few more galleries; one from Spain, Alcalá de Júcar, as well as one from France, Paris…or whatever and one from Northwestern Germany—check them out!!
