Country: Malaysia

I spent a few weeks in 2012 traveling through Malaysia with a close friend and then some friends we met while traveling. Malaysia is an amazing country for nature lovers; it also has lots of great food.

Cameron Highlands – Gunung Brinchang

Confused and freaky-looking goat. I now understand why people used goats as a visual for the devil. Behind the devil is a strawberry farm.

Gunung Brinchang, Cameron Highlands, Malaysia – 2012 While in Georgetown we met a guy named Merlin who told us to check out the Cameron Highlands. I had wanted to go there already but his descriptions made it a priority. On the way from Georgetown to Tanah Rata we sat in the front of a bus and listened to the driver tell us stories about his bus route, traffic, and his bad experiences with Arab tourists. Perhentian Kecil and Kota Bharu, Malaysia – 2012 From Kota Bharu Shawna and I took a bus to Kuala Besut, then a half-hour boat ride from Kuala Besut to Perhentian Kecil, a little baby island off the east coast of…

Goodbye Thailand, Hello Malaysia

Nothing disturbing about this pic until you zoom in and see the assault rifle next to this sleeping guy's leg.

Goodbye Thailand, Hello Malaysia – 2012 We took an overnight train from Surat Thani to Sungai Kolok then walked across the Thai/Malaysian border and headed to Kota Bharu, en route to Perhentian Kecil, a small island off the east coast…

Independence Day

It’s a dreary Wednesday afternoon and it’s been raining heavily off and on since Shawna and I arrived in Tanah Rata, the biggest of all of the small towns that populate the Cameron Highlands. We came here to hike and…
